Description

Soft and flavorful baked doughnuts made with apple cider and warm spices, topped with a sweet cinnamon maple glaze. Perfect for fall mornings or cozy gatherings!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Doughnuts:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup apple cider
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Cinnamon Maple Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a doughnut pan.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together apple cider, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  • Spoon the batter into the doughnut pan, filling each cavity about ¾ full.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let the doughnuts cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and cinnamon. Dip the tops of the cooled doughnuts into the glaze and let them set for about 10-15 minutes.

Notes

  • For a more intense apple flavor, reduce your apple cider in a saucepan until it’s concentrated, then use as directed.
  • These doughnuts can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature.
  • For a thicker glaze, let the doughnuts cool fully before dipping them a second time.
