- ⅓ cup heavy cream
- 6 ounces good-quality dark chocolate, chopped
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon peppermint schnapps
- Optional coatings: cocoa powder, chocolate almond bark, crushed peppermint candies, or sprinkles
Instructions
- Place the chopped chocolate and butter in a heat-safe bowl and set aside.
- Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until it just begins to steam.
- Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and butter. Let it sit for 2 minutes, then whisk until smooth.
- Stir in the peppermint schnapps. Cover and chill the ganache for 2 hours or until firm enough to scoop.
- Scoop out 1 tablespoon-sized portions and roll into balls.
- Roll in desired coatings, such as cocoa powder, sprinkles, or crushed candy canes, or dip in melted chocolate.
- Store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Notes
- For less sticky hands, wear rubber gloves or coat your palms with cocoa powder while rolling.
- If coating in melted chocolate, chill truffles for 30 minutes before dipping.
- Store in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 1 month.
