Description

Thick, chewy, and loaded with chocolate chips, these chewy chocolate chip cookie bars are the perfect dessert to feed a crowd or satisfy your sweet tooth. Easy to make in one pan, these bars are everything you love about classic cookies but with half the effort. With a golden-brown crispy top and gooey chocolate centers, this is a must-try recipe for all cookie lovers!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
  • Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For an extra chewy texture, slightly underbake the cookie bars so the center stays soft and gooey.
  • Feel free to switch up the chocolate chips with dark, milk, or white chocolate, or add in extras like toffee bits or candy pieces.
  • Let the bars cool fully before cutting for the cleanest slices.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
