- 2 chicken breasts (boneless, skinless)
- 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth (onion and garlic-free)
- 1 carrot, chopped
- 1 celery stalk, chopped
- 1/2 cup green beans, chopped
- 1/2 cup pumpkin purée (unsweetened)
- 1/4 cup brown rice or barley
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring the low-sodium chicken broth to a boil. Add the chicken breasts and cook for 15-20 minutes until fully cooked. Remove the chicken and let it cool, then shred it into small pieces.
- Add the chopped carrots, celery, green beans, and brown rice (or barley) to the same pot. Simmer for 25-30 minutes or until the vegetables and grains are tender.
- Stir in the pumpkin purée and shredded chicken. Let it cook for another 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and cool the soup to room temperature before serving to your dog.
Notes
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
- You can freeze individual portions for up to 2 months. Thaw and bring to room temperature before serving.
