Ingredients

Scale

For the Cake:

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup milk

For the Whipped Cream Filling:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Ganache Topping:

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup heavy cream

Instructions

  • Preheat and Prepare the Pan
    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease a 10×15 inch jelly roll pan and line it with parchment paper.
  • Make the Cake Batter
    • In a bowl, sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
    • In another large bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar until fluffy (about 3 minutes).
    • Stir in the vanilla extract and milk.
    • Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until combined.
  • Bake the Cake
    • Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
    • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
    • While warm, carefully roll the cake in a clean towel with parchment still inside. Allow it to cool.
  • Prepare the Whipped Cream Filling
    • Beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  • Fill the Cake
    • Unroll the cooled cake, spread the whipped cream evenly over the surface, and roll it back up.
  • Make the Ganache
    • Heat the heavy cream until it simmers (don’t boil).
    • Pour it over the chocolate chips and let it sit for 2-3 minutes.
    • Stir until smooth.
  • Decorate the Cake
    • Spread the ganache over the roll cake.
    • Let it set for 15-20 minutes before serving.
