Description

Light, festive, and perfectly sweet, these Christmas Tree & Wreath Meringue Cookies are the ultimate holiday treat! With a crisp texture that melts in your mouth and designs that dazzle, they’re perfect for gifting or decorating your holiday dessert table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large egg whites, at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp cream of tartar (optional)
  • Gel food coloring (green, red, or white)
  • Assorted sprinkles (red, green, silver, gold stars)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 200°F (90°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Beat egg whites with cream of tartar (if using) on medium speed until soft peaks form.
  • Gradually add sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while whisking on high until stiff, glossy peaks form.
  • Mix in vanilla extract.
  • Divide meringue into bowls and color as desired with gel food coloring.
  • Transfer meringue to piping bags with star tips. Pipe tree shapes or circular wreaths onto prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake for 1½–2 hours until crisp. Turn off the oven and let the cookies cool completely inside.
  • Decorate cooled cookies with sprinkles and edible glitter.

Notes

  • Ensure the mixing bowl and beaters are grease-free for the best meringue consistency.
  • Gel food coloring works best; liquid coloring may alter the texture.
  • Cool the cookies fully in the oven to prevent cracks.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to one week to keep cookies crisp.
