- ½ cup whole milk
- 2 tbsp chopped green onions
- Vegetable oil, for frying
For the Jalapeño Cheddar Dip:
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- ½ cup sour cream
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 small jalapeño, finely diced (seeds removed for less heat)
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Batter:
In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Stir in the crawfish tails, beaten egg, milk, and green onions until a thick batter forms. - Heat the Oil:
Pour about 2 inches of vegetable oil into a deep skillet or pot and heat to 350°F. - Fry the Beignets:
Scoop the batter into small balls (1-2 tablespoons each) and carefully drop into the hot oil. Fry in batches for 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. - Make the Dip:
In a small bowl, mix the cheddar cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, diced jalapeño, lime juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined. - Serve:
Plate the crispy beignets and serve warm with the jalapeño cheddar dip on the side. Enjoy!
Notes
- If you prefer less spice, omit the cayenne pepper and remove the seeds from the jalapeño.
