Description

A comforting, cheesy, and hearty deep dish pizza pie made with Pillsbury™ French Bread dough, seasoned beef, and plenty of melty cheese—perfect for family dinners or weeknight meals.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef (at least 80%)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 can (8 oz) pizza sauce
  • 1 can (11 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original French Bread
  • 2 cups shredded Italian cheese blend (8 oz)
  • 1 package (3 oz) pepperoni slices
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Extra pizza sauce (optional, for serving)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and spray a 9-inch glass pie plate with cooking spray.
  2. In a 10-inch skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium-high heat until beef is browned and onion is soft; drain fat.
  3. Stir in pizza sauce and set aside.
  4. Unroll bread dough into the pie plate, pressing into bottom and up sides, leaving overhang.
  5. Spoon beef mixture into crust, then sprinkle half the cheese over the meat.
  6. Layer pepperoni slices, then top with remaining cheese.
  7. Beat egg with water and brush over folded edges of dough to seal and shine.
  8. Bake for 38 to 48 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  9. Cool for 15 minutes before slicing. Serve with extra pizza sauce if desired.
