  • 1 box of your favorite vanilla or red velvet cake mix
  • Ingredients required by the cake mix (typically water, oil, and eggs)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Red food coloring
  • For the frosting:
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 2 cups powdered sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 2 tablespoons milk
    • Optional pink or red food coloring
  • Decorations (optional):
    • Heart-shaped sprinkles
    • Fresh strawberries or raspberries

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cake: Preheat your oven as per the cake mix instructions. Grease and flour a heart-shaped cake pan.
  2. Mix the cake ingredients in a large bowl according to the package instructions. Add vanilla extract and red food coloring to achieve the desired color.
