Description

This Garlic and Soy Glazed Pan-Seared Bok Choy is a quick and flavorful side dish packed with savory umami goodness! Pan-seared to perfection and coated in a rich garlic-soy glaze with a hint of sweetness, this dish pairs beautifully with rice, noodles, grilled meats, or tofu. Ready in just 12 minutes, it’s the perfect easy veggie dish for any meal!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 baby bok choy, halved lengthwise
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • ½ tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 green onion, chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Sear the Bok Choy – Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place bok choy halves cut side down and cook for 2-3 minutes until lightly browned and tender.
  • Add Garlic – Flip the bok choy, add minced garlic, and stir occasionally for 2 minutes to prevent burning.
  • Make the Glaze – In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.
  • Glaze the Bok Choy – Pour the sauce into the skillet and let it simmer for 1-2 minutes, allowing the glaze to coat evenly.
  • Garnish & Serve – Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions, then serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra heat, add ½ tsp red pepper flakes or a drizzle of sriracha.
  • For a vegan version, swap honey for maple syrup or brown sugar.
  • For a heartier meal, toss in tofu, shrimp, or grilled chicken.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
