Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large sweet potato (mashed)
- ½ cup xylitol-free peanut butter
- 1 egg
- 1 ½ cups whole wheat flour (or oat flour for grain-free)
- ¼ cup rolled oats
Instructions
- Prepare the Sweet Potatoes: Peel and chop the sweet potato into cubes. Steam or boil until soft. Mash and let cool.
- Mix the Dough: In a large bowl, mix the mashed sweet potato, peanut butter, and egg until well combined. Gradually add the flour and rolled oats until a dough forms.
- Shape the Chews: Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about ¼ inch thick. Use a bone-shaped cookie cutter to cut out treats.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the chews on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 20-25 minutes, or until firm and slightly golden.
- Cool & Serve: Allow the chews to cool completely before giving them to your dog.
Notes
- Store chews in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 3 months.
- You can substitute whole wheat flour with oat or coconut flour for a grain-free option.
- Make sure the peanut butter is xylitol-free, as xylitol is toxic to dogs.
