Description

These Peanut Butter & Sweet Potato Dog Chews are the perfect homemade treat for your pup! Made with simple, wholesome ingredients like mashed sweet potato and peanut butter, they offer a chewy, delicious snack that’s healthy and easy to digest. Your dog will love these tasty, preservative-free treats, and you’ll feel great knowing exactly what’s inside each one!

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 large sweet potato (mashed)
  • ½ cup xylitol-free peanut butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ½ cups whole wheat flour (or oat flour for grain-free)
  • ¼ cup rolled oats

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sweet Potatoes: Peel and chop the sweet potato into cubes. Steam or boil until soft. Mash and let cool.
  2. Mix the Dough: In a large bowl, mix the mashed sweet potato, peanut butter, and egg until well combined. Gradually add the flour and rolled oats until a dough forms.
  3. Shape the Chews: Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about ¼ inch thick. Use a bone-shaped cookie cutter to cut out treats.
  4. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the chews on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 20-25 minutes, or until firm and slightly golden.
  5. Cool & Serve: Allow the chews to cool completely before giving them to your dog.

Notes

  • Store chews in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • You can substitute whole wheat flour with oat or coconut flour for a grain-free option.
  • Make sure the peanut butter is xylitol-free, as xylitol is toxic to dogs.
