Description

Old-Fashioned Meatloaf is a classic comfort food that brings warmth and nostalgia to any dinner table. Made with simple, pantry-staple ingredients like ground beef, rolled oats, and a tangy ketchup glaze, this recipe is both easy to prepare and full of flavor. Perfect for family dinners, this meatloaf is tender, savory, and pairs well with a variety of side dishes. Great for leftovers too!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/4 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 package dry onion soup mix
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

For the Topping:

  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine rolled oats and milk. Let sit for a few minutes to absorb.
  • Add ground beef, beaten eggs, dry onion soup mix, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and pepper. Mix until well combined, but avoid overmixing.
  • Transfer meat mixture to the prepared loaf pan. Press gently to shape into a loaf.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and yellow mustard. Spread the topping evenly over the meatloaf.
  • Bake for 60-70 minutes, until the meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C) and is cooked through.
  • Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Storage: Leftover meatloaf can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Freezing: Wrap the meatloaf tightly in plastic wrap and foil before freezing. Thaw in the refrigerator before reheating.
  • Substitutions: Ground turkey can be used instead of beef for a leaner option.
