Instructions

  • Prepare the Red Velvet Cake:

    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 6-inch round cake pans.
    • Whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
    • In a separate bowl, mix oil, eggs, buttermilk, red food coloring, vanilla, and vinegar.
    • Combine wet and dry ingredients; mix until smooth.
    • Divide batter among pans; bake 25–30 minutes. Cool cakes completely.
  • Make the Cream Cheese Frosting:

    • Beat butter and cream cheese until fluffy.
    • Add powdered sugar gradually, mixing until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • Assemble the Tree:

    • Trim cake layers for a flat surface; stack with frosting between each layer. Taper edges for a tree shape.
  • Decorate:

    • Frost the tree with a base layer. Pipe green frosting with a star tip for tree-like texture.
    • Add fondant ornaments, edible beads, glitter, and a gold star on top.
