Description

This Spicy Mango Chutney Cheese Log combines creamy cheeses, sweet mango chutney, and a spicy kick, all wrapped in a tropical coating of dried mango, toasted coconut, and cilantro. It’s the ultimate easy, crowd-pleasing appetizer that’s as flavorful as it is stunning!

Ingredients

For the Cheese Mixture:

  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 4 oz (115 g) goat cheese or shredded sharp cheddar
  • 1/4 cup mango chutney (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes or finely chopped fresh chili
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt

For the Coating:

  • 1/4 cup finely chopped dried mango or apricots
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 tbsp toasted coconut flakes
  • 1 tsp chili flakes (optional)

For Serving:

  • Crackers, naan bread, or pita chips

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cheese Mixture:
Combine the cream cheese and goat cheese (or cheddar) in a mixing bowl. Mix until smooth. Add the mango chutney, chili flakes, ground cumin, garlic powder, and salt. Stir until fully incorporated.
  • Shape the Cheese Log:
Lay plastic wrap on a flat surface. Place the cheese mixture on top and shape it into a log using the wrap to form an even shape. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to firm up.
  • Coat the Cheese Log:
Mix the chopped dried mango, cilantro, toasted coconut flakes, and chili flakes in a shallow dish. Remove the chilled cheese log from the wrap and roll it in the coating mixture, pressing gently to ensure an even layer.
  • Serve:
Transfer the coated cheese log to a serving platter. Garnish with extra cilantro or a drizzle of mango chutney if desired. Serve with crackers, naan bread, or pita chips.

Notes

  • Adjust the chili flakes to match your spice preference.
  • Add lime juice or zest for a bright, citrusy note.
  • Make-ahead tip: Prepare the cheese log a day in advance for convenience.
  • To toast coconut flakes, bake at 325°F (160°C) for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
