Description

A delicious and festive Spiderweb Cookie Cake perfect for Halloween celebrations! This giant chocolate chip cookie is decorated with a spooky spiderweb design, making it a fun and tasty treat for kids and adults alike. It’s easy to make and customize, ensuring it’s the star of your Halloween dessert table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sticks (1 cup) butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1+ cups M&Ms, divided (fall colors recommended)
  • Tube of black frosting (store-bought or homemade) for spiderweb decoration

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375ºF (190ºC). Line a 14-inch deep round pizza pan with parchment paper and grease the entire pan, including the paper. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and ½ cup of M&Ms. Spread the dough evenly in the prepared pizza pan.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is set. Remove from the oven and immediately press the remaining M&Ms into the top of the hot cookie cake.
  • Allow the cookie cake to cool in the pan. Once cooled, carefully remove it from the pan if desired. Using a tube of black frosting, pipe a spiderweb design onto the top of the cake.
  • Slice into wedges and serve. Enjoy your spooky creation!

Notes

  • Be sure to grease the parchment paper thoroughly to prevent the cookie from sticking.
  • When pressing the M&Ms into the hot cookie cake, stabilize the pan with a hot pad to avoid burns.
  • The cookie cake can be made a day in advance and decorated just before serving.
