- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- Candy eyes or Halloween sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
- Press candy eyes into the dough and sprinkle with Halloween sprinkles.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For softer cookies, remove them from the oven while the centers still look slightly undercooked.
- You can freeze the dough for later baking—just scoop into balls and freeze!
