Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz pasta (penne or rotini work best)
  • 1 lb smoked sausage (kielbasa or andouille), sliced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (use your favorite flavor)
  • ½ cup heavy cream (for creaminess)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for sautéing)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley or green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Cook the Pasta – Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • Sauté the Sausage – In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced sausage and cook until browned on both sides, about 5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  • Make the Sauce – In the same skillet, add diced onion and cook until translucent, about 3–4 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Pour in BBQ sauce and heavy cream, stirring to combine. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  • Combine Everything – Return cooked sausage to the skillet and stir to coat in the sauce. Let simmer for 2–3 minutes. Add the drained pasta and toss until fully coated. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Serve & Enjoy – Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions. Serve warm and enjoy the perfect balance of smoky, sweet, and creamy flavors!

Notes

  • Spice it up! Add red pepper flakes or a splash of hot sauce for extra heat.
  • Make it cheesy! Stir in shredded cheddar or parmesan for a richer taste.
  • Veggie boost: Add bell peppers, mushrooms, or spinach for extra nutrients.
  • Storage tips: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat on low with a splash of cream or milk to restore texture.
