Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large sweet potato
- 1/2 cup unsalted, natural peanut butter (no xylitol)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1/4 cup rolled oats (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Wash, peel, and slice the sweet potato into thin rounds (about 1/4 inch thick).
- Place sweet potato slices on the baking sheet and bake for 2 hours, flipping halfway.
- In a bowl, mix peanut butter and coconut oil. Add rolled oats if using.
- Remove sweet potatoes from the oven, let cool, then coat with the peanut butter mixture.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes to set the peanut butter.
- Cool completely before serving to your dog.
Notes
- Store chews in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage (up to 3 months).
- Always use xylitol-free peanut butter, as xylitol is toxic to dogs.
- Adjust chewiness by altering the thickness of sweet potato slices—thinner slices for crispier chews, thicker for softer.
