Ingredients

Scale

Cake:

Baking spray with flour

1 cup softened unsalted butter

2 cups granulated sugar

5 large eggs

3 cups all-purpose flour

1½ tsp kosher salt

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

1 cup buttermilk

1½ tbsp vanilla extract

Glaze:

1 cup granulated sugar

½ cup unsalted butter

¼ cup water

1½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease a Bundt pan generously with baking spray.

Cream the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients (flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda).

Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

Stir in the vanilla extract.

Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

While the cake is baking, prepare the glaze by combining the sugar, butter, water, and vanilla extract in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved.

Poke holes all over the hot cake using a skewer or toothpick. Slowly pour the glaze over the cake, allowing it to soak in.

Let the cake cool completely in the pan before turning it out onto a plate.

Notes

Ensure your butter and eggs are at room temperature for a smoother batter.

Mix until the ingredients are just combined to keep the cake tender.

Pour the glaze slowly and allow it to seep into the cake for maximum flavor.

Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
