Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 cups Chex cereal (any variety)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • Optional: M&M’s, mini pretzels, holiday sprinkles

Instructions

  1. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave on high for 1 minute, then stir. Continue to microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until the mixture is smooth.
  2. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the chocolate mixture over the Chex cereal in a large mixing bowl. Gently fold until the cereal is evenly coated.
  4. Transfer the coated cereal into a large resealable plastic bag, add the powdered sugar, and shake until well coated.
  5. Spread the coated cereal out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool. Sprinkle with optional M&M’s, pretzels, and holiday sprinkles for an extra festive touch.
  6. Allow to cool completely before serving or storing.

Notes

  • For a nut-free version, substitute the peanut butter with sunflower seed butter.
  • Feel free to get creative with the mix-ins to suit the occasion!
