Baked Chili Dogs Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or cooking spray
  • 8 hot dog buns
  • 2½ cups shredded Mexican cheese blend, divided
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 2 cups Chili (click for our fave recipe!) Optional Toppings:
  • ½ cup chopped yellow onion
  • ½ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard


  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Pour olive oil into a large nonstick skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  3. Toast the hot dog buns face down on the skillet briefly.
  4. Place the toasted buns face up on a baking sheet or casserole dish with high sides. Sprinkle onions, cilantro, ketchup, and mustard into each bun. Add ½ cup cheese to each bun.
  5. Insert a hot dog into each bun.
  6. Generously top the hot dogs and buns with chili, followed by the remaining 2 cups of cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. For an extra toastiness, remove the foil and broil for 3-4 minutes (watch carefully to avoid burning the buns).
  9. Allow to cool for at least 5 minutes before serving.

Optional Toppings:
